Our mission at Disability and Aging Partners is clear: to provide advocacy, information, resources, and assistance so that people with disabilities and older adults can maintain the lifestyle of their choice. Meet Our Board of Directors

Abdi Mirat
Executive Director

Masters degree in Education and Human Resource Management. Has over 20 years of experience in education and program evaluation and monitoring.

Idle Muhumed
Board member

Has over 30 years experience in electrical engineering at Kenya Power company. Lived experience as an elder in the community. Active in community volunteering and social services.

Hubi Abdullahi
Board member

Has over 5 years in business and women business and entrepreneurship development.

Adan Mohamed
Board Chair

Adan has over 30 years in special education and teacher professional development. He is living with a disability ( Hearing impaired). He has a strong passion in changing the lives of people with disabilities especially in the special education field.

John OKanga
Consultant, Resource mobilization and fundraising.

John Okanga is a peace building, conflict mitigation and development consultant, who draws his capacity from over 20 years of community development work experience having served with various national and international non-governmental organizations in various capacities and rising from field facilitator, through project supervision and coordination to management and executive levels. He blends program implementation hands-on experience, grants management practice and experience in training and evaluating development and humanitarian interventions in diverse contexts-conflict, post-conflict and relative under-developed contexts. He has experience working with diverse contexts and cultures, women, men and youth, to deliver balanced and quality results in staff training and mentorship, research, program evaluations and institutional strengthening for clients and their constituencies. John is a trained and certified coach; a capacity he has used to bring out the best in his direct reports and other colleagues for enhanced program outcomes. He holds over fifteen years of conflict-sensitive programming practice and consultancy with a major focus on the use of the Do No Harm principles and framework. He is keen on, and pursues economic justice, gender parity and environmental stewardship through participatory community engagement and advocacy. He is a member of the Global Network of Do No Harm Trainers.
